The purpose of me starting this program is to offer young kids and adults the option to have someone in their life who doesn’t see them for all the mistakes that they’ve made. Instead they see them for all of their robbed potential and talent and work with them to help bring it out. Here we would like to provide a child with someone that refuses to let them fail and give any less than their best effort . That’s what having a mentor looks like. Having a mentor in your life is such a crucial aspect to the development of any person, no matter the age. Our desire here is to make an impact. Having served as a mentor for over a decade, I have gained insight on resources that assists student develop and growth. over the years. I have seen students get over looked and passed along with out necessarily receiving the connection needed to properly succeed in this world. By founding this organization one of our goals is to elevate the standard of living in under served communities and help provide support through mentoring.
I desire to see them dream and go after that dream. One thing that I have noticed in students that I’ve had the privilege to work with is that students need someone to work alongside them, someone that will not diminish their ambition and admiration, but help make them to become a reality. And that is where I feel mentoring comes in. It can be that bridge to overcome where a child is and where they are trying to go. It’s all about perception! This is why I know that we can see a drastic change in a child’s life if we empower and invest in them. Just be the guide , they don’t even know they need.
It saddens me to see so many students fall short each day and it’s not because they are inadequate, but they lack the proper support in their lives of individuals who truly care for their wellbeing. I am a true believer that it’s not the students who are failing us, but it is us who are consistently failing the students. It doesn’t take train individuals to be a mentor. Just a person saying that I refuse to let another child fall short and that can be any compassionate heart for the person who is at state.
