About Us

Operation Chit Chat was founded in 2018,with a mission to establish healthy relationships with youth and families, to enhance leadership skills decision making pro-social friendships and strong interpersonal skills so that each person can successfully stand out when opportunities ascend.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves underserved Black and Brown, low-income, juvenile legal system-involved, and foster care young women, ages 10-25.

Operation Chit Chat was founded in 2005 by a group of mental health professionals who saw a need for more accessible mental health resources in our community.

Our team is made up of licensed therapists, social workers, and other mental health professionals who are passionate about supporting mental health and wellness in our community.

All initiatives are designed for outstanding marginalized students  who are often labeled at-risk. Our youth are more than the perceptions society places upon them.

According to MENTOR, the national mentoring partnership, 1 out of 3 children will grow up without a mentor.

There are many benefits for children and teens matched with mentors. These young people are less likely to engage in risky behaviors and activities such as truancy, drugs and gangs. They also are more likely to graduate high school and attend college. But, the power of a mentor runs deeper than numbers may indicate. Messages of empowerment — “I believe in you,” “you’re worthy of this opportunity,” “I think you have what it takes,” “it’s okay to try and fail,” — help recognize and unleash a student’s potential, which can change the trajectory of a life.
